WELCOME OUR NEW DOCTOR

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Stephen Degenhardt will be joining me in the practice of orthodontics. Dr. Degenhardt has an outstanding academic and clinical background.

Dr. Degenhardt attended University of Detroit Jesuit High School and Michigan State University. In 2018, he graduated from Columbia University in the top 10% of his dental school class. He completed his specialty training in Orthodontics at University of Illinois at Chicago, a program recognized for its outstanding clinical orthodontic training and research accolades.

At UIC Orthodontics, Dr. Steve was awarded the Fein Scholarship, which is awarded to the most exceptional orthodontic resident per class. His thesis, focusing on obstructive sleep apnea in patients undergoing orthognathic surgery, was published in national scientific journals. Dr. Degenhardt is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontists. In 2024, he was recognized by his peers as a “Top Doc” in Hour Magazine.

Dr. Degenhardt’s wife, Bryanna, graduated from Holy Name, Marian High School, and University of Michigan. Dr. Vaitas treated Bryanna’s siblings with braces! “Bry” is excited to help serve the community that she grew up in. They live in Birmingham with their daughter, Georgia, and are expecting their second this summer!
